National System of Nature Conservation Units

Welcome to our nature news portal! Here, we seek to share valuable information about environmental conservation and the wonders of Brazilian biodiversity. This site is a community and periodic effort to map, through lists provided by bodies and institutions, the conservation units present in Brazil.

The objective of this work is to offer a complete overview of the country's protected natural areas, promoting awareness and engagement in favor of environmental preservation. We value the collaboration of everyone who provides valuable information for the construction of this platform dedicated to nature.

Today, we're going to talk about the National System of Nature Conservation Units, better known as SNUC. The SNUC is a set of laws and guidelines whose main objective is to protect and preserve important natural areas throughout the Brazilian territory. These areas are known as conservation units (CUs) and are extremely important for maintaining biodiversity, balancing ecosystems and promoting human well-being.

In Brazil, SNUC is regulated by Federal Law No. 9,985 of 2000. This law establishes general guidelines for the creation, implementation and management of conservation units, ensuring the protection of nature and the sustainable use of its resources.

Within the federal scope, there are several bodies involved in the management of SNUC. The Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio) is the main one. He is responsible for coordinating and executing conservation and management actions in federal conservation units, promoting scientific research, environmental education and sustainable tourism in these areas.

In addition to the Ministry of the Environment, other bodies such as ICMBio, the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) and the National Indian Foundation (FUNAI) also play important roles in the management of conservation units at the federal level.

Now, talking about our future plans, we are excited to let you know that we intend to create a dedicated ecotourism page on our website. This page will be dedicated to promoting responsible and sustainable tourism in Brazilian conservation units. Through it, you can discover incredible destinations, learn about ecological trails, spot wild animals and consciously explore nature.

Our objective is to encourage the connection between people and nature, highlighting the importance of conservation units and inspiring positive actions in favor of environmental preservation. We look forward to sharing these experiences and helping build a more harmonious future between man and nature.

Keep following us on our nature news portal and stay on top of the latest news about SNUC, environmental conservation and ecotourism in Brazil.

Together we can make the difference!
