Growing Commodities and Food Sustainably: The Evolution of Monoculture

Have you thought of a way to produce food and commodities that benefits everyone, including our planet? An inspiring idea emerges: the vertical monoculture. With this approach, we can resolve conflicts over territory, curb deforestation, reduce pollution of water resources, and prevent soil impoverishment and erosion. In addition, it offers a way out of issues such as species extinction, atmospheric contamination and global warming. This proposal is not only possible, but also concrete, since there are already examples in other countries, the famous "vertical farms".

The central idea is to transform agricultural production into something vertical, using climate-controlled towers 75 meters high, powered by solar energy and maintained by internal climate control systems. The water is reused in a closed circuit, making the process even more efficient. With this approach, we aim to revolutionize the way we handle food production, while also preserving our valuable biomes.

The counter-proposal is remarkable: for each tower that produces 74 hectares of organic grains in natura, it is committed to preserving 75 hectares of natural biomes. Taking a significant step towards the harmonious coexistence of production and preservation.

With the population increase and, consequently, the consumption of natural resources, vertical monocultures emerge as a promising solution. They offer the key to a future of well-being, dignity and health for current and future generations. At the same time, these innovations bring the much-needed climate balance, ensuring quality of life not only for us human beings, promoting climate well-being.

In an era of ecological challenges, vertical monoculture reminds us that it is possible to unite productivity with preservation. It is an invitation to rethink how we cultivate our resources, ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for all.

The images in this post capture the essence of vertical monoculture, reflecting the harmony between health and agricultural evolution. A vision inspired by the Solarpunk art movement.
